About CPF
Crohn’s perianal fistula (CPF) is a disabling manifestation of Crohn’s disease (CD). Perianal fistulas in Crohn’s disease are notoriously difficult to diagnose and treat. Optimal treatment is multidisciplinary involving primary care providers (PCPs), gastroenterologists, and colorectal surgeons. Although PCPs and advanced practice providers (APPs) play a key role, they have a limited knowledge and skills for the timely identification of CPF.
To address these gaps, the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) hosted a one-day virtual consensus conference titled CPF: Better Together! A Team Approach to Patient Care. This meeting brought together 19 experts in gastroenterology, colorectal surgery, and primary care to align on how to improve diagnosis and management of patients with CPF.
The conference was supported by independent medical education grants from Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA Inc. and Avobis Bio.
